What to expect from treatment

Acupuncture involves many diagnostic methods to put together a treatment plan that is individual to each person and takes into account your full medical background. Either Jack or Anita will take an account of your full medical history, asking about any previous medical conditions. They will feel your pulse, examine your tongue and may examine the site of your symptoms.

Very fine needles are inserted into acupuncture points to affect your whole body as well as your symptoms, these needles stimulate the body's own healing responses to restore health. The needles can be left in between 10-20 minutes while you relax before they are removed. The needles are single-use sterile needles and will be disposed of after each insertion.

Acupuncture needles are so fine that many people do not feel them being inserted. It is normal to feel a dull ache or a tingle as the needles are adjusted. Many people feel deeply relaxed whilst the needles are in.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS?

This depends on the individual and the condition being treated but it is normal to have weekly treatments initially. As your body responds to treatments the frequency is reduced as acupuncture has an accumulative effect. Many people will start to notice big differences within 4-6 treatments.

Some chronic conditions respond well to a course of treatment with additional top ups as and when needed.
